Welcome in Rosny !
With a population of about 40.000 people, Rosny-sous-Bois is a medium-sized town in the Parisian metropolis and benefits from a strong social and cultural mix.
Rosny-sous-Bois is seen as a working-class town but with a rapidly growing middle-class, largely as a result of increasing prices in the real estate sector in the city of Paris.
The town is attractive to companies on account of its location near Paris, its first rate public transport system, all within easy reach of the region’s two international airports (Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Orly). Worldwide companies like Air China or Radiall are settled in Rosny-sous-Bois.
Rosny-sous-Bois has a golf course, two very well known shopping centers. One of which, called "Domus", is the first in France to have household equipment as its speciality.
The town is the seat of the National Road Information Center and is also renowned for its National Circus School.
Except for a twinning with a German town, Rosny-sous-Bois has recently opened itself to the World, spurred on by its former Mayor, Mr Claude PERNES.
Mr Claude CAPILLON has been Mayor since 2010. He is also a Member of the Seine-Saint-Denis Departmental Council.
We have had cooperation agreements with the African city of Cotonou in Benin since 2005 and with the Chinese city of Yanzhou (Shandong Province) since 2006.
French legislation encourages local authorities to be involved in international affairs but no concrete project can be carried out without a strong will of local decision-makers.
The International engagement of Rosny-sous-Bois follows three principles :
Bringing together people and cultures
Promotion of solidarity among countries
Economic development and employment
All our cooperation projects must be consistent with these principles.
Rosny-sous-Bois is a member of United Cities and Local Governments , an organization which represents local authorities on the international scene.
Sustainable development is a priority for the Municipality : program to promote an eco-responsible administration, implementation of a local Agenda 21, involvement in European program PRO.MOTION for sustainable mobility. The town has also an educational farm and an ecoquartier project close to the main RER station (15 minutes from Paris-Gare du Nord).
